Trafford Park MRF

The new state of the art materials recycling facility at Trafford park, Manchester is now operational.

Following successful installation of the processing plant and equipment commissioning commenced in January 2010 and is progressing well. The plant will process 200,000 tonnes per annum of mixed dry recyclable wastes and will achieve recycling rates of 90%.

Located off Westinghouse Road in Trafford Park, the plant has easy access to the M60 and M602. The majority of the waste received for recycling will come from Biffa’s customers in the Greater Manchester area, providing them with the ability to achieve high recycling rates, avoid landfill and reduce their carbon footprint.

The plant uses a unique combination of mechanical and optical sorting systems and has been designed to operate with very high levels of automation and efficiency making it the most advanced plant in the UK.
