Newhurst EfW

At a planning committee meeting on Friday October 15th, Leicestershire County Council refused our planning application to develop an energy recovery facility at the Newhurst Quarry site near Shepshed to deal with residual industrial and commercial waste in Leicestershire.

We are disappointed with the decision as there is clearly a need for the introduction of methods of dealing with residual industrial and commercial waste from the area. Using it as a fuel to produce energy is infinitely better than sending it to landfill; a fact reinforced by a recent report by the Confederation of British Industry. We have six months in which to appeal are therefore considering our options.
